Elgin Valley's Premium Event

Cape Crusade is the Elgin Valley’s premium Multi-Day Trail Run. Traverse the beautifully rugged Hottentots Holland Mountain Range over 3 days of Single Track bliss! The race is fully supported and the entry fee includes Luxury Tented Accommodation as well as 5 Star Meals.

The 3 days’ routes are an epic mix of mountain trails, jeep track and amazing single track, that are equally challenging as well as rewarding.

The race is run in a solo or team format—with categories for open men, open women, as well open mixed for teams.

Participants will be picked up in Knorhoek Somerset West on the morning of Friday the 2nd of May and transported to the start at The Elgin Railway Market. Safe parking will be provided at Knorhoek for the whole weekend.

There are two distance options - Choose yours

Cape Crusade - 20 Km's per day

Miles and miles of single-track heaven that are equally challenging as rewarding. From manicured single track to rugged technical trails, you will experience it all.

Cape Cruise - 10 Km's per day

Great non-technical trails that will leave a huge smile on your face! The perfect introduction into multi-day trail running. Become part of nature, enter your team.

Logistics

Weekend Logistics

Friday, 2nd May

  • Arrive at The Manor House in Knorhoek, Somerset West, just before 08h00.
  • Leave your car in our secure parking area and pack your luggage for the weekend, yourself and your gees into the buses.
  • The busses leave at 08h00 and take us over the mountain to the race start at Elgin Railway Market
  • There you will collect your race number, have a coffee and a muffin on us—visit the loo one last time—and we’re off!
  • There is a fully stocked water point at about halfway on each of the two distance routes.

Day 1’s route takes us from the Elgin market to our race village at Grabouw Country Club, where your luggage, tent, and tasty lunch await you.

We take care of all your meals during the event. So expect delicious dinners, bountiful breakfasts, and luscious lunches!

There is a cash bar and smoothie/coffee shop on site for any extras that your heart may desire.

Saturday, 3rd May

  • We run a beautiful loop around the gorgeous Grabouw mountains, finishing at our race village at the Country Club.
  • There is a fully stocked water point at about halfway on each of the two distance routes.
  • Traditionally we have a bit of a party on Saturday night, so bring your dancing shoes!

Sunday, 4th May

  • After breakfast, we collect all your luggage again to transport it back to the final finish line.
  • Then you say goodbye to the race village and set out on the spectacular final day’s route.
  • There is a fully stocked water point at about halfway on each of the two distance routes.
  • The race finishes back at The Manor House in Knorhoek, Somerset West, where your luggage—and car—will be waiting for you.

  • Running clothes & shoes for the weekend—don’t forget sunblock!
  • Casual clothes & shoes for after—and something warm for the evenings
  • Cozzie in case you want a dip in the dam

  • Extra blankie if you’re particularly cold-blooded (standard linen is provided in the tents)
  • Hydration pack & any special running nutrition you prefer
